Arsenal Trio
The Arsenal Trio was born when cellist Hrant Parsamian wanted to play with violinist Benjamin Sung and pianist Jihye Chang for his final recital as Cello Fellow of the Montgomery Symphony in 2006. Since then, the Arsenal Trio has covered considerable ground both musically and geographically. Performances from New York City to Florida have delighted audiences with repertoire ranging from Mozart and Schubert to world premieres for piano trio.
The Arsenal Trio made its debut at the 2006 University of Louisville New Music Festival with a recital of six world premiere compositions, the culmination of a short residency known as the "Premiere Collaborative", and a recording of all six trios was released on the University of Louisville label in 2008. They returned to the same school to record and perform composer Marc Satterwhite’s music, and the CD will be released in late 2010. In June 2008, the trio was invited to the Summer Chamber Music Residency at The Banff Centre, Canada, where they worked with Phil Setzer of the Emerson Quartet, Henk Guittard of the Schoenberg Quartet, and director Barry Shiffman among others. Their recent engagements include an appearance at the Cheryl Nelson Losett Performing Arts Series with James Sewell Ballet and tour in Minnesota; a residency and guest concert at Indiana University Southeast; guest appearances at the Reif Center in Grand Rapids, MN; a concerto appearance for Beethoven's Triple concerto with MSUM University Orchestra, MN; a short residency in Rosemary Beach, FL; concerts and outreach performances through A Center for the Arts in Fergus Falls, MN. They are invited to record a CD of new music on the New Dynamic Records at IUS in 2015.
The Arsenal Trio is committed to inspiring a new generation of music lovers and bringing friends together through the joy of chamber music. Since the Montgomery Symphony Orchestra named Jihye the second Honorary Fellow in its history, the Arsenal Trio is the one and only All-MSO Fellow ensemble!
